Silver Service Dinner 2021

To celebrate coming out of lockdown, the Geezers are once again putting together a ‘silver service’ dinner at Haslewey Community Centre on Saturday December 18th 2021, priced at £35 per head.

We will not only prepare, cook and serve the food, but also dress the venue to a very high standard as can be seen from the photograph. The evening will go with a swing, with live music to entertain our guests as they arrive, and then live music to dance to after the dinner.

Presentation to the Hunter Centre

In early July 2019, the Geezers were able visit the Hunter Centre to hand over a cheque totalling over £3,000 from the profits made from their silver service dinner and initial sales of their cookbook. The hand-over of this first payment was a great occasion and signalled, not the end of the project, but the beginning of the next phase, in consolidating the culinary specialities of the Geezers on to the book shelves of all good cooks both at home and abroad. And yes, when we say abroad, we have sold copies in Australia and New Zealand, which are about as far away from dear old Blighty as you can get.

The publication of the cookbook, which has enabled the Geezers to support this outstanding local charity, has been a journey of sheer joy and an experience, one never to be forgotten and we look forward to the next phase, perhaps a Colander Boys Christmas special. Watch this space!

Our Lighter Moments

May 2019 will go down in our group’s history as our crowning glory. Not only was our Gourmet Geezer cookbook published, but also we excelled ourselves by putting on a ‘silver service’ dinner at Haslewey for 100 guests (if you include the band!)

Each course was carefully prepared and cooked in the unfamiliar surroundings of Haslewey kitchens, and meticulously plated up for serving

Each of the twelve tables was served by our waiters, ably led by our Maître d’ - Joseph Guardascione

John Peterson gave the guests a potted history of the group and what we get up to, in his inimitable, humorous style

Ken Griffiths called all the Geezers to the stage to accept the rapturous applause of the guests for all our efforts to make the evening the success that it truly was.

Book Launch Party

The Gourmet Geezers Book Launch took place at the Haslemere Bookshop,

The Geezers were there in person to greet customers and offered freshly made canapes, plus a drink of something sparkling to get them in the mood for buying!

Ian Rowley, the owner of Haslemere Bookshop wrote:

The Haslemere Bookshop is delighted to host the official launch of the Gourmet Geezers Cookbook and to be the place to come and buy the book in Haslemere. Not only do we love good books and good food, but the Hunter Centre, which will receive all profits from book sales, is also our favourite charity!

For those of you who don’t know, The Haslemere Bookshop is one of the few remaining independent bookshops in the area. At the heart of the High Street, we stock new and used books, and have a fine selection of greetings cards. If there is a new book you want and we don’t have it in stock we can usually order it for next day delivery for free!

Silver Service Dinner

In advance of the official launch and to show off their skills to an unsuspecting Haslemere, the Geezers put together a ‘silver service’ dinner at Haslewey Community Centre on Saturday May 11th 2019 priced at £35 per head. However, this proved so popular, that all tickets sold out well in advance,

We not only be prepared, cooked and served the food, but also dressed the venue to a very high standard as can be seen from the photograph. The dinner turned out to be a great culinary experience not only for Haslemere, but for the Geezers themselves!
